This photograph has long been controversial. Taken in 1993 by young photographer Kevin Carter, it shows the severity of famine in southern Sudan. Kevin Carter, to testify to this misery and to react the international opinion, captures a girl emaciated and curled up on itself. The photographer receives the Pulitzer Prize for this photo, only, the latter is accused of not reacting to this situation. He will end his life a few months later.
